How to convert S.E.C. EDGAR documents for printing

Original inquiry posted by Steve Roberts, Benchmark Equity Group, on September 21, 1997

Hello Buslibbers,
Someone mentioned EDGAR conversion. What *are* the options? I'm using the Edgar convert program from the EDGAR or Stern site, but I'm not entirely pleased. Can anyone point me in another direction? Thanks.

There is a shareware wizard that attaches to Microsoft Word 6.0 or 7.0 that seems to do the best job for us. The document still needs minor tweaking, but the output is the cleanest of all options I've tried so far. The file can be found on the internet and is called: edgar2w.exe. Of course, if you like it you are encouraged to pay the author. I've attached the file to this reply but I don't know if (or how) it will be forwarded along with this message.

If your e-mail software handles attachments, attached are the conversion files. The text file has instructions & further info. Or go to: http://www.sec.gov/edaux/util.htm to download the files.
