Cultural trends

Question
Can anyone recommend resources for finding cultural trend information? I have identified several pubs like: American Demographics, Futurist, Trend Letter. I also know about market research sites like: Iconoculture, Youth Intelligence, Nextpert; and opinion sites like Harris and Gallup. (Dianne White, 11/21/2003)

Responses
You might try USA Today. Trends used to be "their thing".

You could try trend expert Faith Popcorn's website at: http://www.faithpopcorn.com/

US Statistical Abstract is often used for analyzing trends

American Demographics Magazine and the various Pew Research Center Surveys (see, for example, www.people-press.org, and its Pew Internet and American Life surveys at http://www.pewinternet.org/)

Try Trendsetters.com, http://www.trendsetters.com/ Can be very superficial and product-focussed, but sometimes very interesting. Michael Tchong has also just published a report called 2004 Trendscape was released last week.

Tom Peters is usually on top of a many cultural trends, especially as they relate to business : www.tompeters.com. Another source of fun cultural trends is Lake Superior State University's "List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-Use, Over-Use and General Uselessness" : www.lssu.edu/banished/
