Corporate scholarship: an oxymoron?

For many people, “corporate scholarship” is an oxymoron -- too impractical for the real world. But some managers, such as the Director of Pfizer Research University, believe that applying principles of academic scholarship to the workplace can help companies create and leverage their intellectual capital. This article explores these principles and includes a chart comparing them with common knowledge management techniques. The article also includes a discussion of “intranet toolkits” designed to facilitate corporate research and publishing, and describes toolkit applications in three different organizations.
