Implementing Ontolica with SharePoint June, 2008 by Marcia Morante
A cottage industry has grown up around SharePoint. Many software companies have taken note of its market inroads and seized the opportunity to develop companion products to shore up its deficiencies or enhance its capabilities. SharePoint Search has been the target of many of these efforts. In a review of MOSS 2007, CMSWatch says that if search is very important to you, “you might want to look at more mature search alternatives. Other search vendors have developed SharePoint connectors and Web Parts as well, and may be just as easy to set up, but more powerful for your particular scenario."
