Like many companies involved in knowledge management, Monsanto is finding that it needs to define new roles. Here's the background on a recently advertised position for a "knowledge editor."

When Mark Williams posted job descriptions for a "Knowledge Editor" and a "Knowledge Consultant" on the Internet this fall, it was one of several steps his company, chemical industry giant Monsanto, is taking toward implementing "knowledge management." (Knowledge management is the practice of capturing a company's collective experience, know-how and wisdom and making it available to anyone who needs it.)
