More companies are deciding that maintaining physical facilities such as libraries, conference centers, and executive dining rooms no longer makes economic sense. The Internet has accelerated a trend toward "going virtual" -- substituting electronic information for printed directories, books, and journals and giving users more responsibility for their own information hunting and gathering.
