Knowledge Base Publishing systems

A Knowledge Base Publishing system is a combination of information, software, and business processes designed to increase the productivity of individuals performing creative, managerial, and problem-solving tasks. The system combines the tools of today, such as e-mail, search engines, and hypertext, with the classic features of databases and print publications — fielded search, structured data, thesauri, glossaries, and A - Z indexes.

The Montague Institute's Knowledge Base system, part of which is visible to members in the A - Z index and teaching Lab, combines the essential features of many different applications, such as:

  • catalog of documents and images;
  • standard names;
  • people information;
  • thesaurus;
  • related information about projects and system use.

Through software "connectors," the Knowledge Base can exchange and update data from other applications, such as word processors, search engines, authoring programs, and others.

Members who create a prototype Knowledge Base in the teaching Lab can license a version of the system tailored to meet their work group requirements, either hosted or installed by Montague Information Technology.
